Overview:
Green Public Procurement (GPP) is a government-led initiative aimed at promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable practices in the procurement. The goal of GPP is to leverage the purchasing power of governments to drive demand for products and services that have reduced environmental impact throughout their lifecycle.

Globally, governments spend approximately US $13 trillion in public contracts every year, representing approximately 12 percent of GDP. Green Public Procurement (GPP) encourages governments to consider choosing products and services that cause minimal adverse environmental impacts.

By adopting GPP practices, governments can lead by example, reduce their environmental footprint, and contribute to the overall transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible economy. Additionally, GPP can have a positive influence on the private sector to innovate and produce greener products and services.
GPP expedites the implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted in 2015 during COP21.

The same was also emphasized during the recent G20 Meeting in India. PPPAI & ISM-INDIA welcome’s you to join the 3-days online training on Green Public Procurement (GPP) with technical support from The World Bank.
